Germanspeaking congregation in Nigeria

And I suspect for some it is also "tuning in again" to life in Abuja. 

The summer holidays are over and everyday life begins.

Some have left the country, others have arrived.

Something new begins, something familiar continues.

The service lasts about 1h and the sermon is in German, a copy in English will be distributed.

Our services take place on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, i.e. on: 

25 September and 9 October (Thanksgiving).

The parents of Elias Jonathan Erich Gelpke have chosen these words of the Psalm for their son as a heading for his life. They shall accompany him, just like God's blessing, which we want to pronounce to Elias in the coming service.

God is pure relationship. No one is excluded from God's presence. God cannot and will not be for himself. One expression of this is his Trinity. God Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the one God in three persons.

The coming Sunday is called Trinity Sunday, the feast of the Trinity of God - and the sermon will be preached by Oberkirchenrat Frank Kopania, - because we have a visit from the Evangelical Church of Germany (EKD), of which we are a member church in Nigeria.

Mr. OKR Kopania is together with the Regional Officer Africa OKR Marc Reusch for a week in Nigeria, to get to know the country and the people, and our church community, therefore:

Our services are always held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month:
June 26 with blessing ceremony for Elias Gelpke and July 10th with annual congregation meeting.

Welcome to worship with us @ EYN church, Utako, this time also with 'something for the kids' and with, as the Sunday is all about singing, uplifting music too.

A warm invitation to Easter -Service April 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Damaris and Jan's home at Sunrise Hills Compound. 

Together we will listen to a devotion, sing songs and paint Easter eggs.

Afterwards we will have a meal together. A potluck* is planned for this purpose. Plates, cutlery and glasses will be provided.

*potluck: everyone is invited to bring something to eat. Feel free to send the food suggestion to Jeanette as well.

"...who is the best comforter in the land?"

This question is asked by the upcoming worship service next Sunday.

The service will be led by Damaris Ritterhoff, as Pastor Anna Küster is on vacation.

And please note the next service, on Palm Sunday, April 10, we will meet at Damaris and Jan's house at 10:30 a.m. for a devotion, Easter egg painting and a potluck lunch, i.e. everyone brings something.

Also this Sunday the service is held by a guest preacher, actually by a whole family: 

Judith as organist and this Sunday also Elijah as preacher.

 

It will be about the question of forgiveness.

Everyone knows the feeling of being angry, of flying off the handle, of boiling over with rage?

How do we deal with this: a situation that leaves us no space to gather our thoughts and think clearly.
