Listening properly is undervalued. Yet it would be so good to listen carefully. Not only to what one wants to hear. To listen is to relate, to connect. Someone gives her time to the person who is talking. They listen to their story.
Genuine listening is completely underestimated, because "genuine listening is a gift," says Bernhard Pörsken, professor of media studies in Tübingen.
And the theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote: "But whoever can no longer listen to his brother, his sister, will soon also no longer listen to God, but will also always only talk before God."
